Kazakhstan has been engaged in a serious and uncompromising struggle against corruption, President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev said at a meeting with the Chief of the Agency for the Fight Against Economic Crimes and Corruption (Financial Police), Kairat Kozhamzharov, Kazakhstan Today reports, citing a presidential press release.
According to the press statement, during the meeting, Kozhamzharov reported to Mr. Nazarbayev on the Financial Police's efforts related to fighting corruption and neutralizing the shadow economy.
The head of state commented that the world community appreciates Kazakhstan's anticorruption policy. However, the domestic media often criticize efforts in this regard.
"We should not give this work up. I had warned this would be a serious undertaking when we accepted the law on Corruption," the president said, according to Kazakhstan Today.
