Kazakhstan to host First Historic Turkic Council Summit

The first historic summit of the Turkic Council will take place in October 2011 in Kazakhstan, the Official Spokesperson for the Foreign Office Askar Abdrakhmanov said at a briefing yesterday.
“A delegation of the Secretariat of the Turkic-Speaking Countries Cooperation Council headed by Secretary General Khalil Akyndzhi is expected to visit Astana on December 13-15, 2011, he said.
As per the agenda for the trip, Khalil Akyndzhi will meet with the Kazakh foreign minister, several state and public organizations and will visit the Academy of Turkic World.
According to Abdrakhmanov, the agreement on establishment of the Cooperation Council for Turkic-Speaking Countries was signed as per the initiative of President Nursultan Nazarbayev during the 9
th Summit of the Heads of Turkic-Speaking Countries in Nakhchivan (Azerbaijan), on October 3, 2009.
The first historic summit of the Turkic Council will be held in Kazakhstan in October 2011, Abdrakhmanov added, Kazinform said.
