President signs Mortgage Guarantee Amendments

    President Nazarbayev has signed amendments to legislation concerning mortgage lending and the protection of the rights of consumers of financial services and investors, Kazakhstan Today reports.
    According to the presidential press statement, the law is designed to strengthen the rights of financial services consumers, giving guarantees to citizens on mortgages and increasing the responsibility of officials at joint-stock companies.
    As was reported previously, the amendments pertain to the law on banks and banking activities related to the formation of a council of representatives to select a financial ombudsman, and will deal with other issues connected with the activities of the financial ombudsman, according to Kazakhstan Today.
