Masimov reappointed PM following Nazarbayev’s Inauguration

The Majilis, Kazakhstan’s lower house of the parliament, voted on Friday to reappoint Karim Masimov as Prime Minister, following the formal resignation of the cabinet after the inauguration of President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
“I believe Karim Masimov is the only suitable candidate to carry out the work of our government effectively,” Nazarbayev said, as he approved Masimov’s appointment in the first session of the Majilis.
Investors expressed relief on the appointment of Masimov who has enjoyed a reputations as a business-friendly technocrat who steered the country through the financial crisis.
By law, Masimov must present a list of his nominees for ministerial posts to Nazarbayev for approval within 10 days, according to SRI.
