Majilis passes Tougher Immigration Bill
21.04.2011
Kazakhstan’s lower house of parliament has passed a new law on immigration in the first reading.
The document defines various types of immigration, including those for repatriates returning to their historic homeland, those wanting to reunite with their families, for educational purposes, etc.
The law also toughens penalties for living in Kazakhstan without registration, and for violating rules for stay by foreigners and people without citizenship.
'For the first time, the law defines mechanisms for the regulation of immigration law,' Caspionet said.
