President Nazarbayev has toured numerous facilities in Astana in anticipation of a large city development meeting.
Nursultan Nazarbayev inspected the center of the capital as well as the outskirts.
Astana is growing from year to year, and new districts are being built, simultaneously with infrastructure.
Talgat Kuderbekov, Astana resident said, “The road was terrible here before. We’ve have lived here for 5 years. Now everything is built in accordance with completely different methods and advanced technologies. We have had our house connected to utility mains, sewage, and storm-water drainage systems”.
A large water-supply system modernization project has already been completed in Astana, according to reports given to the president yesterday as he visited a new pump and filtration plant that is operating with French equipment.
According to foreign experts that are knowledgeable about the project, the plant uses the most advanced water purification technology. Even Paris does not have such a system as of yet, they said.
Nursultan Nazarbayev said, “The main goal for all Astana residents would be to take care of everything we’ve built for our children, teach respect to our children, and not to litter the streets, which as you can see, are clean”.
“This is hard work for the people who are responsible for this in the city. It is necessary to cherish everything, including sports facilities, and not stick chewing gum on desks they sit on, not to throw cigarette butts and litter on the ground. Everyone should take care of each tree, every forest, and everyone should have ownership of their city and love this city,” he said, according to Caspionet.
