Kazakhstan is developing a program to help women occupy leading positions in politics and business, said Prime Minister Karim Masimov.
"President Nazarbayev is currently developing a program to help women hold leading positions in politics, business and civil society" - he said, speaking at the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) on Tuesday.
The prime minister noted that starting from the first days of Kazakhstan’s independence, "women have played an important role in our progress"
"Statistics have shown that for example, they contribute about 30% to our GDP. This figure is constantly and steadily increasing ... This means we are on a par with 12 European Union countries, including France and Italy" Masimov added, KazTag reports.
