Majilis Elections to take place in 2012

08.07.2011
Kazakhstan will hold parliamentary elections for the Majilis (lower house) in 2012 because it lacks money to hold them this year, Central Election Commission Chairman Kuandyk Turgankulov said July 7, according to Novosti-Kazakhstan.
Presidential advisor Yermukhamet Yertysbayev had raised the possibility in April of holding Majilis elections this year, but President Nursultan Nazarbayev rejected the idea.
Senate (upper house) elections are scheduled for August 19, Central Asia Online said.
