During his visit to Brussels Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov held a meeting with Prime Minister of Belgium Yves Leterme to discuss a wide array of topics concerning bilateral relations.
Kazykhanov gave Mr. Yves Leterme a congratulations letter from President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev addressed to the King of the Belgians Albert II on the occasion of the upcoming National Day in Belgium, which is celebrated on July 21.
The letter also covered Kazakhstan’s approaches to the development of bilateral relations.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister of Belgium described Kazakh-Belgian relations as very intense, and reminded of the last year’s visit of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Belgium and Yves Leterme’s visit to Kazakhstan for the December OSCE Summit in Astana.
“I was impressed by the dynamism and striving for constant improvement and development in Kazakhstan,” the premier noted.
The two sides stressed the countries still were not realizing their full potential for investment cooperation. They also considered nuclear energy issues, and discussed Kazakhstan’s initiatives for nuclear nonproliferation and disarmament.
It was noted Kazakhstan now plans to cancel visa requirements for citizens from 34 countries that are members in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, Kazinform said.
