Air to become 27 Times Cleaner after Reconstruction of Almaty Electric Heating Plant

The reconstruction and expansion of the Almaty Electric Heating Plant planned on part of Samruk-Energo will improve the ecological situation in the city, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing the Managing Director for Industrial-technical Affairs at Samruk-Enegro Yesbergen Abitayev at the Kazakhstan Energy Forum.
According to Abitayev, the plant is currently working on coal, which pollutes the atmosphere.
Besides, the station is located in the center of the city; and this fact is further detrimental to the situation.
The design institute made a statement that after the station switches to operate on a steam-and-gas heating unit -- its emissions will decrease by 27 times.
“When such numbers are pulled out, it becomes clear that this is an important project that we have to work on,” he added, according to Tengrinews.kz.
