Kazakhstan leads Central Asia in Human Development

    The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has published their annual human development report, ca-news.org reports.
    In the human development index Kazakhstan has come in at 68th place, which is the highest ranking among Central Asian countries.
    The are 187 countries in the ranking overall. Turkmenistan stands at 102nd, Uzbekistan – 115th, Kyrgyzstan – 126th, and Tajikistan is 127th.
    Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan were called the poorest countries in the region. Nevertheless, they were included on the list of “countries with a medium level of human development.”
    As rus.delfi.lv reports, Norway is the number one country in the world in terms of human development.
    It is followed by Australia, the Netherlands, the US, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, Lichtenstein, Germany and Sweden.
    Among former USSR countries Estonia (34th) topped the list, Russia came in at 66th, Georgia – 75th, and Ukraine is 75th.
    The Democratic Republic of the Congo came in at the very bottom of the list, according to www.tengrinews.kz.
