U.S. Ambassador discloses number of staff at embassy

    U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan Kenneth J. Fairfax disclosed the number of employees working at the U.S. embassy employees during a lecture he gave at the President’s Academy of State Management, Tengrinews.kz reports.
    “I think there are around 120 Americans and 300-400 Kazakhstani citizens working at the U.S. embassy and consulate in Kazakhstan,” he said.
    The number of employees was justified by the large-scale regional goals for the American mission here. This number of employees is considered a large number, even for the U.S. Department of State, officials say.
    “The thing is that the majority of what we do here is regional work, as Kazakhstan is the center of this region,” the diplomat said, www.tengrinews.kz wrote.
