Kazakh Ombudsman meets with Head of OSCE Center in Astana

Kazakh Human Rights Commissioner Askar Shakirov met with newly-appointed Head of the OSCE Center in Astana Natalia Zarudnaya Wednesday in Astana, a statement from the Ombudsman Office reported.
Shakirov expressed satisfaction with mutually beneficial cooperation with this organization.
Over the past few years the Ombudsman Office and the OSCE Center have implemented a number of joint projects to ensure the protection of human rights and freedoms in Kazakhstan.
Representatives from central government bodies, local authorities, non-governmental sector, the media have been widely involved in the implementation of these projects.
The two sides discussed further bilateral cooperation between the Office of Kazakh Ombudsman and the OSCE Center in Astana, the development of contacts in human rights to develop national legislation and educate citizens in the protection of human rights and freedoms, Gazeta.kz said.
