Kazakhstan - Australia parliamentary dialogue has great potential - Mami

Kazakhstan’s Senate Chairman Kairat Mami met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Australia Peter Slipper on Tuesday to exchange opinions on the further development of Kazakh-Australian bilateral relations.
While noting the importance of the visit for strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, Mami stressed the parliamentary dialogue between Kazakhstan and Australia has great potential.
“Kazakh MPs are interested in intensifying cooperation with their Australian counterparts,” said Mami as he called for an exchange of experience in law-making activity, and a promotion of the timely formation of a bilateral legal base.
Mami reported on Kazakhstan’s achievements over the 20 years of its independence, the successful implementation of its foreign policy initiatives to strengthen stability and security in the region as well as across the world.
Mami specified that on May 30-31 2012, Astana will host the 4
th Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.
Slipper expressed support for his Kazakh counterpart to develop cooperation between the two parliaments in lawmaking, which he said creates conditions to enhance trade and investment relations, Kazinform states.
