At a special meeting in Ak Orda, President Nursultan Nazarbayev has handed-out new assignments to promote the development of Astana.
The construction of the capital city has been unstoppable over the last three years alone, Astana opened 4 million square meters of new housing, with another 5 million are expected to be built in the near future.
Astana Akim Imangali Tasmagambetov, said, “243 problematic shared construction facilities that were launched in 2008-2009 in Astana, are now completed. On behalf of Astana residents, I would like to sincerely thank you for this move, because without your personal interference, it would be impossible to solve this complex issue, which has involved more than 40 thousand citizens. Now, they all have their long-awaited apartments”.
The social sector is another vital area for this fast-growing city. According to the akim, the city is now addressing its shortages of spots at nursery schools and secondary schools. Over the past two years alone, 83 new nursery schools have been commissioned in the city under the Balapan program.
Tasmagambetov added, “This year, we set the goal of reducing the need for secondary schools by at least one-third. Now, the city is building five new schools. Taken together, there are about seven thousand new spots opening for pupils, but this is still not enough. Therefore, we plan to build another 5-6 schools with budget financing”.
Any capital city worldwide could now be envious of the Astana healthcare system, Caspionet claims.
One of the president’s instructions was the establishment of medical tourism to modern clinics in Astana. Diagnostic and specialist centers, along with new hospitals are now being built to replace outdated facilities.
In addition, each year, the city is building and repairing about 120 kilometers of roads. Astana is also now switching focus to clearing traffic jams. The Kurgaldzhin highway is being reconstructed in two stages.
The budget has allocated nearly 5 billion tenge for this purpose. The head of state is personally monitoring the development of the food belt surrounding Astana.
Each day, residents of the capital should see more high-quality, fresh products on the shelves, officials say.
President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said, “The regional governor is here, so it is necessary to work together with agricultural producers. If it was beneficial to sell the products in Astana they would bring them here, so this means that certain issues still need to be resolved.
The president also examined the readiness of new large facilities such as the History Museum, the Opera and Ballet Theater, as well as the Khazret Sultan Mosque. He paid particular attention to the architecture
Nazarbayev specified that all entrances into the city should reflect the fact it is the country’s capital.
He referred to the quarter adjacent to the Triumphal Arch as one of its most promising. The section will have exclusive housing, nice public gardens and parks in the future.
Nazarbayev commented, “I don’t miss a single day of watching the city’s development, and every one of its facilities, as the country’s capital should serve as an example for the remaining regions. The capital’s development, its future, and its beauty are not tasks to be fulfilled by the city administration, the government, agencies, national companies and holdings. No one should stand aside in this matter. This is an opportunity for the entire state, and I believe everyone understands this,” Caspionet stated.
