36 thousand trees and bushes were planted in Almaty last year

Over 36 thousand trees were planted in Almaty last year, Tengrinews.kz reports.
The Head of the Department for Natural Resources and Wildlife Management of Almaty Altai Rakhimbetov made the announcement at the city Maslikhat meeting.
24,571 trees and bushes were planted with city budget funds.
An additional nine thousand trees were planted to replace those cut during various construction and repair operations.
4.9 thousand of these new trees were planted in the Medeu District, which was badly damage by last year’s heavy storms.
Department of Wildlife Management gave a permission to cut 18 166 troublesome trees during 11 months of 2011. Responsibility to plant additional 27 276 trees to compensate the cutting was undertaken.
Permits to cut 2,226 trees were issued in Q1 2012, www.tengrinews.kz wrote.
