Kazakhstan to cancel visa regime with 34 countries

    "Kazakhstan intends to cancel its visa regimes with the 34 most developed countries," Industry and New Technologies Minister Aset Issekeshev told a government meeting.
    "We know the Foreign Ministry is implementing a project to cancel the visa regime with 34 most developed countries. We believe it is essential to speed this up," Issekeshev said.
    The measures are being taken to develop tourism in Kazakhstan. Official statistics indicate a steady growth in the tourism industry. 2011 inbound tourism reached above 5.6 million people, outbound stood at 5.3 mln, Gazeta.kz wrote.
