5th Astana Economic Forum opens in Astana

    The opening ceremony of the 5th Astana Economic Forum with the participation of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev takes place in Astana.
    The Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, United Nations Under-Secretary General for Economic and Social Affairs Sha Zukang and Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization Francis Gurry are expected to deliver their welcome addressed at the event as well.
    "I am confident that the V Astana Economic Forum opens a new page in the promotion of the idea on reforming the global economy," President Nursultan Nazarbayev said delivering an opening address at the V Astana Economic Forum at the Palace of Independence.
    "The Astana Forum has become the valuable part of the global dialogue of politicians and scientists-experts proven by today's attendance. 8 000 people from more than 90 countries of the world submitted their applications for the participation in the forum. I welcome the incumbent and former heads of state and government, worldwide renowned politicians, heads of international organizations and regional associations who arrived in Astana," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
    The Program of the Forum includes more than 40 events of different formats with the participation of 6500 delegates from 85 world countries. Well-known public figures, international experts and Nobel Laureates are expected to take part in the Forum.
    The 7th Innovative Congress, Global energy ecological forum “Kazakhstan's initiatives on energy and ecology”, Astana Invest 2012 forum, etc. will be held within the framework of the 5th Astana Economic Forum.
    New communicative platform “G-global” which is a unique idea initiated by the President of Kazakhstan will be presented at the session of the 5th Astana Economic Forum.
    Besides, an exhibition presenting more than 50 most promising and high technology projects of Kazakhstan will open in the Palace of Independence when the Forum.
    The main result of the 5th Astana Economic Forum will be the Open Letter with recommendations for the recovery and development of the global economy sent to the organization committees of the G-8 and the G-20, UN, International Monetary Fund, World Bank and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, according to Pm.kz and Kazinform.
