Message for U.S. Citizens: Forest Fire near Medeu Skating Ring

    According to the Almaty Emergency Department at about 22:30 on August
    22, 2012 the hill near the Medeu Skating Ring caught on fire that has
    destroyed about 44 acres of the forest. Currently more than 500 people
    of Almaty Emergency Department, Almaty Akimat, and the Ile-Alalausky
    Park are involved in the firefighting operation.
    All Americans are advised to avoid traveling up to Medeu and asked to follow the
    instructions of the local authorities.
