Kazakhstan remains committed to it’s the key points of its foreign policy, President’s spokesman Dauren Abayev said.
“All speculations regaridng Kazakhstan changing its (foreign policy-KNL) course have no substantiation,” he stated on October 16 while commenting on President Nazarbayev’s remarks made during his visit to Turkey.
His statements had been interpreted by the media as indicating Kazakhstan would give up on Russian integration in favor of closer ties and ideology with Turkey.
“Some of the quotes of President Nazarbayev have been taken out of their broader context and misinterpreted (…) During talks with the Turkish leadership, President Nazarbayev dwelt on the importance of maintaining the cultural heritage and traditions of Turkic-speaking groups, rather than on current relationship with Russia,” Mr. Abayev said, according to www.tengrinews.kz.
