December 27 declared national day of mourning

    Kazakhstan media will not broadcast any entertainment programs and advertisement on December 27, as the day has been declared by Nursultan Nazarbayev a day of national mourning for the victims of the plane crash in South Kazakhstan Oblast near Shymkent, Tengrinews.kz reports.
    In line with the national law on advertisement, all electronic media ads are banned during the national mourning day. Broadcast of entertainment TV and radio shows will be suspended as well.
    Besides, all national flags on the country’s authority buildings will be flown at half mast on December 27, in line with the law on state symbols.
    “All programs for tomorrow have been cancelled, because almost all of them are entertainment. Everything, but new has been cancelled. Advertisements were cancelled in line with the Article 8 of the Advertisement Law. There will be changes in the music selection as well,” Director of Tengri-FM Radio Madina Umorbekova said.
    Entertainment shows have been cancelled on the following TV-channels: STV, KTK, Eurasia, Channel 7 and Channel 31. Their New Year’s staff party was re-scheduled because of the mourning.
    Earlier, Chairman of the Majilis Commission on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security Maulen Ashimbayev called Kazakhstan resident to support the families of the crash victims and cancel the New Year’s staff parties.
    President Nursultan Nazarbayev declared a one-day national mourning over the crash victims on December 27.
    Military plane AN-72 of the Border Control Service of Kazakhstan National Security Commission crashed at 06:55 p.m. on December 25, 20km from Shymkent airport. The plane had 7 crew members and 20 militarymen onboard, including the acting head of the Border Control Service of Kazakhstan National Security Commission Turganbek Stambekov, www.tengrinews.kz said.
