EXPO-2017 should transform Kazakhstan to third industrial revolution nation - Nazarbayev

The EXPO-2017 International Exhibition in Astana should transform Kazakhstan from a nation in transition to a third industrial revolution country, President Nursultan Nazarbayev said during his speech at a meeting at Ak Orda with Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov, Head of the Presidential Administration, Karim Massimov and First Deputy Chairman of the Nur Otan People's Democratic Party Bakytzhan Sagintayeva on Wednesday.
"It is important to turn EXPO-2017 into a catalyst for motion into the third industrial revolution, which embodies an alternative economy, the creation of appropriate high-tech materials, renewable energy, the training of personnel and other issues," Nazarbayev said.
Earlier, Minister of Environmental Protection Nurlan Kapparov had reported to President Nursultan Nazarbayev on his main approaches and proposals for the organization concept behind EXPO-2017 in Astana.
"The minister of environment proposed green infrastructure for the exhibition site, such as smart networks, buildings powered by renewable energy, electric vehicles and all other materials relevant to the theme -- "Energy of the Future".
According to the president, implementation of such a unique high-tech project is a good opportunity to make a great leap into the country's technological development.
"The grounds for the 2017 World Expo will be a platform upon which Kazakhstan can display its achievements", Nazarbayev said.
Following his meeting with the minister of the environment, the President ordered the continuation of work towards these goals and the offering of further proposals for a concept of organization of EXPO-2017 in Astana, Trend wrote.
