The United States have presented cars to Kazakhstan's police, Tengrinews.kz reports.
“We have gathered today to transfer the vehicles for countering the drug business from the U.S. Embassy to the Interior Ministry of Kazakhstan. As you know, the government has been continuously taking steps to enhance the countering of drug trafficking over the past few years,” Interior Minister Kalmekhanbet Kassymov said.
The ministry received a gift of 11 Skoda Octavia cars for police officers, and 15 GAZels for transportation of sniffer dogs.
“We have recently noted positive results from our efforts. Drug addiction has dropped by 12 percent overall, and by 20 percent among minors. Plus there has been a good number of drugs seizures. And of course we need modern vehicles to progress further. We are buying them using government money, as well donor countries,” the interior minister added, according to www.tengrinews.kz.
