Almaty to get tour buses

    Almaty will get new tour buses, head of Almaty Tourism Department Bakitzhan Zhulamanov told Tengrinews.kz.
    He said three tour buses will be purchased in 2013 and will start operating right away.
    The tour schedules and routes have already been set. There will be specific tours that will have a theme, such as the theaters of Almaty, and general tours around the city. The routes will cover the total of 20 sights in Almaty.
    Officials have decided not to buy double-deckers and opted for normal buses with around 30 seats. The ticket will cost from 2 to 5 thousand tenge ($13-33), Zhulamanov said.
    Free tours around the city are already available on holidays, Almaty Tourism Department said. These tours are popular among both foreigners and local residents.
    Earlier Tengrinews.kz English had reported that tour double-deckers would be cruising Astana. The authors of the project were even considering adding night tours for Astana, www.tengrinews.kz said.
