Nazarbayev receives letter from Barack Obama

President Nursultan Nazarbayev has received a letter from the President of the United States Barack Obama, the Akorda, the president’s official website reported.
In his letter, Obama said he shared President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s positive assessment on the dynamics of the relations between the two countries since Kazakhstan gained its independence.
“The dialogue on strategic partnership between the United States and Kazakhstan shows the common vision and commitment to solve the comprehensive challenges. I am grateful to Kazakhstan for a firm position in stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan. Your country’s assistance has a positive impact on improving the lives of Afghans and effectiveness of international efforts to strengthen security in the country,” the letter said.
In anticipation of the withdrawal of US military forces, President Barack Obama assured the United States will keep its presence in Afghanistan and the region. He stressed the countries have a common interest in ensuring the prosperity of the people in Afghanistan.
He also noted that nuclear safety and non-proliferation are priorities for his administration. In this regard, he expressed appreciation to President Nursultan Nazarbayev for his non-proliferation efforts for the Security of Kazakhstan, the United States and the international arena.
Obama also praised Kazakhstan's efforts in organization and holding of Iran-5+1 nuclear talks this year.
Obama stressed that Kazakhstan can count on strong support for the United States on matters of political and economic modernization, including the question of accession to the World Trade Organization.
In this regard, he expressed the view that a democratic and transparent development of the market economy are the best guarantees of long-term stability and strong ties of friendship between the countries, CA-News states.
