The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan did not increase consular fees, but rather unified them for US citizens, the Official Spokesperson to the Foreign Ministry said.
“Certain media sources reported, citing the resolution of the Minister of Foreign Affairs on consular fees that Kazakhstan “has increased the costs of entry visas”. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses that this interpretation of the resolution does not correspond to reality,” he noted.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the changes affect only citizens of the United States in accordance with the agreements between the two governments on the unification of consular fees.
“Previously, mutual consular fees for certain categories of visas for citizens of Kazakhstan and the United States varied from 160 to 240 dollars. Thus, a private visa cost $240, a work visa – $ 190, etc. Now consular fees have been unified on a mutually-agreed upon level of $160 for all categories of visas,” the Foreign Ministry explained.
Consular fees for citizens of other foreign countries have not changed, CA-News reports.
