Former head of KazMunaiGas, Lyazzat Kiinov might become a senator, a source in oil and gas circles told Trend Monday.
"Lyazzat Kiinov will not work in UzenMunaiGas or the joint maritime company," the source said. "He will not serve as governor of the Mangistau region. His new appointment depends on the president."
According to the source, Kiinov has taken time off until autumn. "It is possible Kiinov could become a member of the Senate," he added.
Earlier, the Kazakh and international media reported Kiinov could become akim of the Mangistau Oblast. Kiinov has served twice during his career as head of the Mangistau Oblast. Meanwhile, Mangistau region's akim's office denied these reports.
"This information is false," the akim's office said.
"It should be stressed the Mangistau Oblast akim's office is operating normally. It is carrying out its daily duties to ensure the life of the region," Trend wrote.
