Kyrgyz resume water supply through Bystrotok channel

The water supply through the interstate water channel Bystrotok has been resumed in Zhambyl region at 5. 45 p.m on July 17, the Zhambyl Oblast Akim’s office reports.
Remind that, on July 7, 2013 the residents of the village of Kaynar of Kyrgyzstan blocked the interstate channel Bystrotok, which is located on the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border.
Kazakh Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov and his Kyrgyz counterpart Zhantoro Satybaldiyev talked over the phone and discussed the current issues of cooperation, in particular, the situation at the interstate Bystrotok water channel, the official website of Prime Minister reported on Wednesday.
Akhmetov had urged Kyrgyzstan to resume water supply through the cross-border channel. Because of the shutdown of this channel residents of border areas of Zhambyl region were left without water for more than a week, Bnews.kz reports.
