188 out of 204 current akims reelected in Akmola Oblast

    The gubernatorial elections in the Akmola Oblast have been held at 19 polling stations in line the requirements of the constitutional law on elections and presidential decree as of April 24, 2013.
    729 registered candidates (2 candidates per governor seat) participated in the elections, which included 460 men (63.1%), and 269 women (36.9%).
    Out of 247 elected akims, 188 (76.12%) currently hold the position of akim.
    There are 40 women (16.2%) among those who have been chosen. 236 newly elected governors (95.5%) are members of the Nur Otan National Democratic Party.
    Representatives from political parties, non-governmental organizations and the media attended the elections in the region as observers, Kazinform states.
