President Nazarbayev familiarizes with EXPO-2017 sketch ideas

On August 13 Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev has visited the Korme Exhibition Center in Astana, where he got familiarized with EXPO-2017 sketch ideas, Kazinform has learnt from Akorda's press service.
The President of Kazakhstan saw the presentation of works by 50 participants of the international architectural contest for the best sketch idea which is to become a symbol of EXPO-2017 in Astana.
Afterwards, Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that hosting of EXPO-2017 event is a historical event for Kazakhstan.
"Out of many countries, Kazakhstan was chosen as the host of this exhibition. The EXPO-2017 complex will be one of the most grandiose objects in Astana and Kazakhstan as well. In this light, we need to consider various projects. We are very thankful to all architects, both Kazakhstani and foreign, for their participation and to members of the judging panel for picking the best projects," the Kazakh leader said.
President Nazarbayev also stressed how important it was to choose the final variant.
"The theme of out exhibition is closely connected with 'the green economy' and that means we can use alternative sources of energy in each EXPO-2017 facility," the Head of State added.
Architects from 20 countries, including Austria, Australia, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Italy, Canada, China, the U.S., the Netherlands, South Korea, Russia, Portugal, Norway, Turkey, Tunisia, Japan, France, Ukraine and Kazakhstan submitted their applications to participate in the contest.
In addition, while attending the exhibition center, Nursultan Nazarbayev surveyed the concept and miniatures of the Green Block project.
Following the visit, the Kazakh President gave a number of instructions regarding the results of the EXPO-2017 sketch ideas contest, according to KazInform.
