Firefighters have contained another massive fire at Almaty Baraholkha and stopped it from spreading any further, Tengrinews reports.
According to the Almaty Emergency Department, the fire engulfed 3,000 square meters.
The fire was ‘taken under control’ (original – KNL) at 11:08 a.m. Officials have not yet commented on possible causes, but the investigation is underway.
According to preliminary reports, one person has been injured and was sent to a hospital with a broken leg.
A helicopter, 41 fire engines and 245 firefighters are involved in the firefighting operation. Additional water for fire engines is being delivered by 16 water-hose vehicles owned by the Tazalyk company. A KA-32-model helicopter owned by KazAviaSpas has already released over 33 tons of water onto the fire.
The blaze broke out at about 3 a.m. at night. But the firefighters ‘received the message on the fire only at 6 a.m’ (original – KNL). Two sections of the Baraholkha had caught fire: the Kulager and Aral blocks.
