Oslo becomes official competitor of Almaty in 2022 Winter Olympics bid

    The Norwegian Olympic Committee has announced they have submitted to the IOC their bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympics on November 13, 2013.
    Norwegian capital Oslo that hosted the 1952 Winter Olympics plans to spend $5.32 billion on organization of the Olympic Games is if wins the bid.
    "We are planning a very compact, low-cost Olympics," Norway's Olympic Committee spokesman Per Toeien said.
    Almaty was the first city to submit its application to host the Winter Olympics 2022 on August 16, 2013.
    Poland together with Slovakia (Kraków and Jasna), China (Beijing and Zhangjiakou), Ukraine (Lviv), Sweden (Stockholm) also declared their intentions to bid.
    Residents of Munich rejected the bid to host the 2022 winter Olympics via a referendum.
    The IOC Executive Board will review the bids from all the applicant cities in July 2014 and then select the candidate cities.
    The host city will be selected one year later, on 31 July 2015, at the 127th IOC Session in Kuala Lumpur, www.tengrinews.kz wrote.
