Astana’s population reaches 900 thousand

25.11.2013
President Nursultan Nazarbayev visited NIPI Astanagenplan LLP, a Akorda news release reports.
Nazarbayev noted that now because of active migration, the population of the capital is approaching the 900 thousand mark.
“Today there are no projects for large-scale expansion of the capital to increase its population to 2-3 million inhabitants. The capital is missing many things for this purpose – communication infrastructure, water supply and others. Therefore the solution to several questions is needed. So, there are still many areas in the city which were acquired at a preferential price over time by individuals. Now they are not using them to sell and earn easy money at the expense of the state. I will specifically order the Prosecutor's Office to continue research in these land sites to regain them for state use. We will look at who the owner is, and regardless their current positions and positions held, these lands will be returned to the state," the president stressed, according to Bnews.kz.
