05.12.2013
Almaty officials are considering various measures to reduce traffic jams, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported December 3, citing Almaty Akim (Mayor) Akhmetjan Yesimov.
Ideas include tollways, tollbooths at entrances to the city, bus stations with parking lots for cars at entrances to the city, and parking fees within the city, he told an Almaty investment forum.
Public transport handles 26% of trips taken in Almaty now, he said, adding the city would like someday to have public transport's share reach 50%, Central Asia Online said.
