Majilis amends legislation to decrease greenhouse gases emission penalties

    The Majilis has approved draft amendments to the national code on administrative offences in the second reading.
    The amendments concern the article to the national code related to exceeding quotas for greenhouse gas emissions and reduces fines for emissions.
    Article 243-1 of the code will come into force from July 1, 2014 and will reduce the size of the penalty for exceeding greenhouse gas emission quotas by ‘ten to five monthly calculation indexes’ per ton.
    As was noted earlier, the adoption of the bill will exempt industrial (energy and oil and gas) enterprises from fines for 2013 and those enterprises will not be fined in the first half of 2014, Kazinform reports.
