Friends of Boston bombing suspects want their trials moved
24.04.2014
Friends of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev are asking that their cases be tried outside of Massachusetts.
Attorneys for Dias Kadyrbaev filed papers in US District Court on April 22 asking that their client be included in change of venue motions made previously by Azamat Tazhayakov and Robel Phillipos.
Kadyrbaev and Tazhayakov of Kazakhstan have pleaded not guilty to obstruction of justice and conspiracy for allegedly taking Tsarnaev's laptop computer and a backpack containing fireworks from his college dorm after the deadly bombings on April 15, 2013.
Phillipos, a US citizen, has pleaded not guilty to lying to authorities while being questioned.
Tazhayakov's lawyer argued in a court filing last week that his client could not receive a fair and impartial trial in Massachusetts because of the intense publicity surrounding the case, according to RFE/RL.
