Kazakhstan president highlights importance of visit to China

President Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed the importance of his visit to China, Ak Orda reported on May 20.
Agreements were reached in various areas as part of this visit.
He stressed the signing of certain documents in the presence of the presidents. They envisage the establishment of joint ventures, as well as in cooperation in the manufacturing industry.
"China will help us implement the glyphosate production project in Taraz through its investments," President Nazarbayev was quoted by Ak Orda as saying.
"The oil and gas pipe production plant is planned for construction in the Almaty Oblast. The thermal power station construction was also thoroughly considered at the Turgai coal deposit in the Kostanai Oblast. An innovative company processing coal and producing gas, petrol, diesel fuel and carbamide will operate in Karaganda. The planned nitrogen fertilizer production in Aktobe and Mangistau regions is also science and capital intensive. China will participate in the reconstruction of the Shymkent refinery. Moreover, we will work to increase the oil and gas supply from Kazakhstan."
The president also highlighted the importance of opening a Kazakh terminal in the Pacific port of Lianyungang.
"The containers will be transported through China and Kazakhstan to Europe," the president said. "The initial terminal capacity will make up to 3 million tons per year with twofold increase in the future. Thus, our country's transit potential will be fully used."
President Nazarbayev stressed that the total amount of Chinese investments, to be made in Kazakhstan, exceeds $ 10 billion.
"The industrial-innovative development program will be supported by China," the president said. "All new projects will strengthen the economy of Kazakhstan and improve the welfare of our people," according to Trend.
