Astana preparing for official recognition of Expo-2017

    The official recognition of Expo -2017 in Astana and the transfer of the official flag of the BIE to Kazakhstan will be held in June 2014 at the 155^th General Assembly of the International Exhibitions Bureau. Chairman of the Board at Expo-2017 Astana National Company JSC, Talgat Yermegiyaev's made this announcement in a speech at a special session titled: EXPO- 2017: Preparation of the Infrastructure of Astana, as part of the Astana Economic Forum.
    "The government of Kazakhstan is paying great attention to the construction and preparations for the international EXPO -2017 exhibition, which is an event of national significance. Active participation on part of the citizens of Kazakhstan is the key to its success," Yermegiyaev said.
    He added that in April of this year, President Nazarbayev laid a capsule to launch the construction of the exhibition.
    The session was attended by Secretary-General Advisor of the BIE on Communication Issues, Ivan Prostakov, Nobel Prize laureate in Physics (2006), George Fitzgerald Smoot III, Special Adviser to the United Nations Fund for the Sustainable Energy for All initiative, Serge Martin, and co-founder and managing partner of the TIMWE, Ricardo Carvalho.
    The Expo will be a unique part of the city in the future. The world's greatest innovations will be applied to develop the project.
    In particular Carvalho said, "Today, we would like to present some ideas about how the Expo -2017 exhibition should help visitors to coordinate, facilitate transport and leisure, as well as about how the residents of this city would improve their standard of living after the exhibition”.
    “We believe this event will raise Astana's development to a next level. This is the main idea,” according to Azernews.
