CSTO Secretary General meets with Kazakh foreign affairs minister

    Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolai Bordyuzha has met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Idrissov, Tengrinews reports, citing a ministry press statement.
    On August 21, Bordyuzha and Idrissov discussed the CSTO member-states’ cooperation in ensuring collective security.
    “Kazakhstan is committed to increasing CSTO capacities to ensure the stability and security of its member states,” the Foreign Ministry announced.
    Idrissov, in turn, expressed satisfaction with the results achieved at the meeting of ministers from the member-countries on April 3, 2014 in Moscow.
    During the meeting, Bordyuzha and Idrissov reviewed preparations for the unofficial meeting of the member state officials at the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in September and the next CSTO session.
    In addition, joint military drills called - Interaction 2014, of the Collective Rapid Reaction Force of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) were held in Kazakhstan on August 18-22, 2014.
    The drills took place at the Spassk Mlitary Range in the Karaganda Oblast. They involved more than 3,000 participants, over 200 land military vehicles and around 30 aircraft from Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Armenia, according to Trend.
