Kazakhstani Senate approves draft amendments to law on reducing bureaucratic procedures

    The Senate (upper house) of the Parliament of Kazakhstan has approved the draft law on making amendments and additions to some legislative acts of Kazakhstan “on further simplification of the justice administration, reducing bureaucratic procedures” in the first reading.
    The bill makes changes and amendments to nine legislations: Civil Procedure Code, Criminal Procedure Code, the Code of Administrative Offenses, the Budget and Tax Code, the laws of Kazakhstan on “regional financial center of Almaty city,” “Supreme Judicial Council of Kazakhstan,” and “Protection of Consumers' Rights.”
    The bill introduces a new chapter that defines “procedure for a settlement agreement,” its forms and content, and rules for its execution with the aim to encourage the parties to a peaceful resolution of a dispute.
    The settlement agreement chapter was added to a list of grounds for the return of a state duty that is written in the Article 548 of the Budget and Tax Code of Kazakhstan.
    The law of Kazakhstan on Supreme Judicial Council was amended by adding certain criteria for selection of candidates for the posts of chairmen of courts, chairmen of the judicial boards of courts and judges, AkiPress reported on September 11.
