Kazakhstan, Mauritius establish diplomatic relations

    The Permanent Representatives of Kazakhstan and Mauritius to the United Nations, Kairat Abdrakhmanov and Milan, Jaya Nyamrajsingh Meetarbhan have signed a joint communique to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries in New York, Kazinform reported, citing to Kazakh Foreign Ministry.
    "During the signing ceremony, the two parties exchanged views on bilateral cooperation and on the important issues on the UN's agenda that are in Kazakhstan’s and Mauritius’ interest," the ministry's message said.
    The two parties noted the importance of sharing experience in economic development, the expansion of mutually-beneficial bilateral contacts, especially in tourism, finance, trade, mining, energy and access to regional markets.
    Mauritius, as a regional business "bridge" offers convenient services to the companies for doing business and provides an attractive package of financial incentives.
    "It was proposed to consider the possibility of signing agreements on the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments and avoidance of double taxation between Kazakhstan and Mauritius as a first step for strengthening interaction," the message said .
    On behalf of the Kazakh government, Abdrakhmanov invited the government of Mauritius to participate in the international EXPO-2017 exhibition in Astana.
    Mauritius is an island country located in the south-western part of the Indian Ocean, with a population of over 1 million people. The island's economy focuses on tourism, agricultural and fishing industry.
    Mauritius is very popular among European tourists along with the Maldives and Seychelles, Trend reports.
