The Russian city of Astrakhan will host a meeting of the Russian-Kazakhstan permanent commission for the cross-border cooperation in the field of water on November 13- 15, Astrakhan region administration said.
The meeting will be held under chairmanship of Deputy Head of Russian Federal Agency for Water Resources, Vadim Nikanorov.
The two parties plan to sign a number of documents during the meeting.
Kazakhstan and Russia have many bodies of water in common, including the Ural River, Big and Small Uzen Rivers and their tributaries - the Ilek and Or Rivers.
Cooperation between the two countries has made it possible to create an action plan for the rational use of water resources, as well as the exchange of hydrometeorological, hydrological, hydrochemical and water information.
The negotiators will also inspect hydraulic structures in the Rastopulovka Village in the Privolzhsky District as part of the meeting.
The government of Russia and Kazakhstan signed an agreement on the joint use and protection of transborder waters in 1992, Trend reports.
