Signature sheets have been issued to President Nursultan Nazarbayev to collect citizens’ signatures in support of his candidacy to participate in the presidential election on April 26, the Central Election Commission said March 11.
Even though Nazarbayev has ruled the country for 25 years, the Central Election Commission (CEC) is still legally required to establish that he is qualified to be a presidential candidate, according to the constitution and the law on elections.
Under the CEC resolution, all candidates must collect at least 93,012 signatures of voters to participate in the vote.
Authorized representatives organize the signature collection in support of presidential candidates, according to Trend.
