Man removed from flight at Almaty Airport tested for Ebola

    A 37-year-old citizen of of the Kostanai Oblast Sergey Baryshnikov has been placed in isolation pending tests for the Ebola virus, a news statement from the National Economy Ministry reports.
    On March 15 a plane en route Istanbul - Almaty was met by emergency officials at the Almaty International Airport after a passenger on board exhibited possible signs of Ebola.
    "Specialists from the Institute for Quarantine and Zoogenous Diseases took blood tests for Ebola. The final result will be available in 18 - 20 hours," the statement read.
    It was found out the patient and his friend have been in Guinea on a business trip from 9 to 14 March. During the last three days, Baryshnikov was complaining of a high fever and diarrhea. Sergey Baryshnikov and his friend Vladimir Rudenko, a citizen of Russia, have been hospitalized at the Adult Infectious Diseases Hospital in Almaty. The aircraft was moved to a sanitary parking zone.
    At the time of this report, the patient's body temperature was within normal parameters, but was diagnosed with SARS (original - KNL, very likely simple acute respiratory infection) and acute nasopharyngitis. The final test results will be available in 18-20 hours.
