Akhmetov's house arrest extended to June 18

The house arrest of former minister of defense, Serik Akhmetov, who is suspected of corruption, has been extended for one month.
"Extend the house arrest of Serik Akhmetov until June 18 2015 to allow (officials – KNL) to inspect the files of the criminal case," Yerkesh Mauken, a judge at the Kazybekbi District Court of Karaganda has said.
As was reported earlier, the criminal cases into former highly-ranked officials have been united into one proceeding.
According to the procedural prosecutor, the criminal case consists of more than 150 volumes, and involves 20 suspects.
According to the investigation, the group, which included a number of formerly highly-ranked officials, committed a series of crimes, including embezzlement on an especially-large scale, abuse-of-power, operating illegal businesses, and document forgery. Akhmetov is suspected of accepting a $2.4 million bribe, according to KazTAG.
