6th International Mining and Metallurgical Congress kicks off in Astana

    6th International Mining and Metallurgical Congress – The Industrial Policy of the MMC: Investments, Modernization, Production, has kicked off in Astana.
    According to Deputy Minister for Investment and Development, Albert Rau, about 600 participants from 28 countries will participate.
    The simultaneous exhibition is bringing together about 40 companies from 17 countries. Rau called the event "preparatory work" for the World Mining Congress in 2018.
    Nicholay Radostovets, executive director at ALE, the Republican Association of the Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises has delivered the welcoming remarks.
    "I am grateful to the government of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Investment and Development, which regularly supports the organization of the congress. The Natural Resources Code will be passed through to the parliament. On behalf of the Association of Mining and Metallurgy, I would like to ask participants to express their viewpoints on the fundamental topic of the MMC for the formation of the new code," Radostovets said.
    A business session will also be carried out on the sidelines of the congress. First Deputy Prime Minister Bakhytzhan Sagintayev will reportedly attend the plenary session, according to Kazinform.
