Kazakhstan has urged the other Central Asian countries to support its initiative in consolidation of anti-terrorist efforts under the aegis of the United Nations, a press statement from the Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.
Kazakh officials took part in the sixth meeting of the deputy foreign ministers of the Central Asian countries organized by the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) on November 27.
President Nursultan Nazarbayev had proposed setting up a network of counter-terrorism while speaking at the 70th session of the UN General Assembly in September 2015.
He specified the company needed to develop and adopt the UN's comprehensive document to combat terrorism.
Participants in the meeting also noted the continuing growth in the region's economic challenges and cross-border threats, including the situation in Afghanistan.
In this regard, the parties involved expressed common opinion on a need to continue the constructive dialogue between the Central Asian countries with the participation of the UNRCCA, especially in water management, cross-border cooperation and transport, according to Akipress.
