UNDP to help Kazakhstan to implement reforms

    The newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator - Permanent Representative of United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Kazakhstan Norimasa Shimomura was received by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Yerlan Idrissov, a press statement from the Kazakh Foreign Ministry has said.
    Idrissov said that cooperation with the UN is priority for Kazakhstan's foreign policy.
    He remembered the participation of President Nursultan Nazarbayev in the 70th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly and the UN Summit on Sustainable Development. He also pointed to the visit on part of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in 2015 to Kazakhstan.
    "The two sides expressed satisfaction with the successful implementation of the Millennium Development Goals in Kazakhstan and country's active participation in the development of the sustainable development agenda until 2030, the joint projects of the government of Kazakhstan and the UN agencies in East Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda and Mangistau oblasts, as well as progress in the establishment of the Regional hub of the United Nations in Almaty," the ministry said.
    Shimomura noted that in accordance with the framework partnership for development between Kazakhstan and the United Nations for 2016-2020, signed in 2015, the UN agencies will offerout all-round assistance and expertise to support the programs and reforms under the Strategy Kazakhstan-2050 and the Five Institutional Reforms, according to Akipress.
