The Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Wednesday it is following the developments in the Middle East with close attention and concern.
"As a responsible member of the world community, Kazakhstan expresses concern over the increasing tensions in relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran against a backdrop of threats to security and stability in the region and the need to strengthen the global fight against terrorism.
We urge the leaders of Saudi Arabia and Iran, the countries in the region that are friendly and brotherly for Kazakhstan, as well as other countries to take needed measures to prevent a further escalation of inter-faith tensions, establish a political dialogue and hold negotiations between the two countries to ensure an agreement and resume diplomatic relations. We urge all parties involved to avoid crossing a dangerous line”.
“We emphasize that attacks on foreign diplomatic missions are unacceptable, and countries of accreditation have obligations to ensure their security in accordance with the Vienna Convention”.
“In this regard, Kazakhstan favors a political solution and a dialogue as the only true way toward resolving the situation," said in the commentary, according to Akipress.
