Majilis registers winning parties

The Bureau of the Kazakh Majilis has registered the parliamentary 'factions' of Nur Otan, Ak Zhol and the Communist People’s Party, the two parties that emerged victorious in the snap parliamentary election held on March 20, a press statement from the Majilis said on March 29.
Deputy Head of the Majilis Apparatus, Zhaslan Zhugunisov has laso been appointed the head of the Majilis apparatus.
Candidates from the following six parties ran for parliament seats: the ruling Nur Otan party, Ak Zhol, Aul, the Communist People’s Party, the Nationwide Social Democratic Party and Birlik.
Only three of the parties overcame the required 7-percent threshold: Nur Otan gathered 82.20 percent of the vote, the Communist People’s Party – 7.14 percent and Ak Zhol – 7.18 percent, Trend reports.
